There is an assurance from the presidency that violent crimes will soon be over in the northeast

- The Nigerian leader said that the country has experience of war and as such, terrorism will be a thing of the past in no time
Terrorism in the northeastern part of Nigeria will in no time become a thing of the past according to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The president gave this assurance on Friday, January 24, as he received Janez Lenarcic, the European Union (EU)'s commissioner from crisis management in Abuja.
He said that just like in the Nigeria-Biafra civil war, insurgency in the region will definitely be defeated, although it might time some time.
The president said that if the country could survive and overcome the civil unrest at the time, then violence in the north will not be an exception.

The Nigerian leader, assuring the EU commissioner of the federal government capacity to tackle the menace, said that the country has experience of war and that that is why he is confident that victory is certain in the fight anti-terrorism battle.
He said that the government is doing its best to disabuse the minds of Nigerians from the dishonesty in most media reports on Boko Haram.
President Buhari said: "As for Boko Haram, we try to disabuse the mind of the people and I think our people now understand the basic dishonesty in it. With my experience personally in the civil war, I am sure we will get over it.
“I assure you that we are aware of these problems and we will continue to do our best. The newly created Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs is coordinating NEMA and others, to make sure that whatever resources we get are well utilised."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that two rival terrorist groups on Wednesday, January 15, clashed in Borno state, leaving many members of the insurgency sects dead.
A faction of the Boko Haram terrorists loyal to Abubakar Shekau took the fight to a camp under the control their rival, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in a bid to reclaim their women who were seized by the latter group.
The ISWAP camp where the deadly clash took place is reportedly located in Sunnawa village in Abadam district, Borno State.
