“The arrangement is in line with the current academic calendar and was done with the federal ministry of education.
“Consequently, the council wishes to inform schools, candidates, and the general public that the examination will hold from August 16, 2021, to September 30, 2021.
“The international timetable for the conduct of the examination will be released in due course.”Recall that results for the examination for 2021 released by the examination body were nothing to write home about according to its own estimation. Out of the 7,289 candidates who wrote the examination, only 2,938 of them (just 40.31%) got credit and above in a minimum of any five subjects with or without English Language and Mathematics. Also, 2,195 candidates representing 30.11% obtained credits and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. About a month ago, WAEC disclosed that 30 schools in Benue state who engaged in examination malpractices have been delisted.
The state commissioner for education, Dennis Ityavya, said that most of the affected schools are privately owned. The commissioner also disclosed that the ministry of education alongside security operatives would move around the state to close down illegal schools. In a related development, WAEC has cancelled a series of examinations for private candidates. The cancellation affected the first series Literature-in-English (2&1,3) examination of the 2021 WASSCE taken by private candidates. The examination which was supposed to be held on Friday, February 26 was later rescheduled for Thursday, March 11, 2021.
